This is a very important issue when checking\tuning your antenna using a MFJ antenna analyser , DO NOT rely on it being accurate if you are using the internal battery as believe it or not even a drop of 1 volt can make a significant difference to the readings so it is better to use a regulated supply as even a car battery can drop enough in a short while especially if it is an old one .

I just discovered this column after being away some time.I have a MFJ 259 Mk.1.I use an external DC supply,always have.
When powered up a small amount of RF is generated on the frequency displayed making this device an excellant low powered jammer.One can have many hours of harmless fun with any loud radios in close proxcimity.
