In case you missed it: G Suite is now Google Workspace. And while there are a few differences between G Suite and Google Workspace, most of your favorite features are staying the same or upgrading.

Let’s look through all the Google Workspace features to check out what this new Google productivity suite can do.

The basic Google Workspace features

If you caught our introduction to Google Workspace, you already know that Google Workspace is more than just a G Suite rebrand. Google’s move is about bringing all their office productivity and collaboration tools into one integrated platform.

When you sign up for Google Workspace, you get a custom business email, plus access to collaboration tools like:

  • Gmail account(s)
  • Shared calendars
  • Chat
  • Google Docs
  • Drive
  • Forms
  • Google Meet
  • Sites
  • Slides
  • Google Sheets
  • and more

As you can see, Google Workspace features a bunch of familiar tools. The main difference is how these applications work together to create a more seamless experience and collaborative environment.

Google is betting that this integrated approach will pay off for businesses. Their research shows that Google Workspace users can experience a 1.5% increase in revenue, a 331% ROI – and save 171 hours every year by using this productivity suite. How’s that for a collaboration tool?

Top-class security features

Like G Suite, Google Workspace is in the cloud. Because businesses depend on cutting-edge security, Google offers a whole host of data protection and controls within its application.

No matter how much cloud storage you have, Google works to meet the most stringent privacy and security standards to keep your information safe.

Just how good is Google’s security? 95% of companies that use Google Workspace have reduced their risk of a data breach.

What can you do with Google Workspace?

How do all these Google Workspace features translate to actual business activities? If you didn’t have a G Suite account before, you might be curious about what you can actually do with these applications.

Here are some highlights:

  • Have an email @yourcompany. ($6 per email per month, which includes 30GB of cloud storage, file sharing, video conferencing and more)
  • Share and store files within a secure cloud from your phone, tablet or computer
  • Work and collaborate from anywhere
  • Work with common file types, like Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, within your Google collaboration tools
  • Set up brand new team profiles in minutes (including email and access to collaboration tools)

When Google says truly integrated digital collaboration, they mean it: your team can collaborate in Google Docs in real-time while simultaneously video conferencing with each other via Google Meet. Not too shabby.

How to begin with Google Workspace

Like G Suite, there are different plan sizes and types to address every business’s needs. The Google Workspace plans are:

  • Business Starter - $6 per user, per month
  • Business Standard - $12 per user, per month
  • Business Plus - $18 per user, per month
  • Enterprise - Custom pricing

The Enterprise plan is the only plan with unlimited storage, and it’s the plan that includes the most robust security features and support. Many businesses will find that one of the first three plans meets their needs nicely.

(If you had G Suite Enterprise, then you’ll likely have Google Workspace Enterprise. And if you had a lower plan on G Suite, you’ll probably have the new equivalent plan.)

If you don’t have a Google account, you’ll need to create one. From your Google Workspace admin account, you’ll be able to set up other users, permissions, company-wide settings and more.
