VP of Product Management
Back in December, I helped introduce Copper’s new company vision. We’ve always focused on relationship-driven businesses, but we recognized that Copper could do better to ensure our customers connect, win, deliver and grow with their customers.
Our roadmap for the first half of the year was ambitious, but I’m proud to say the team smashed it! Let’s review what we’ve delivered since January, and what’s to come for the rest of the year.
“Welcome” Feed
Makes sense to start where you start your day, right? Copper always had a dashboard with recommendations on which emails to reply to, a daily calendar, suggested contacts, and open tasks. But we heard from customers that we needed to include more customer touchpoints to really make the Feed functional.
Our re-designed Feed brings a ton more information: calls, meetings, emails, form submissions, and even Mailchimp activities are neatly displayed and filterable. It’s also interactive — allowing you to react to your teammate’s activities, or reply to important emails — without switching into a record.
What’s next? We’re going to introduce more focus on your activities and tasks. We’re also going to expand our recommendations so you know which customers to focus on.
Email Automation
This area was one of our most requested features. Our customers really wanted to send emails from their own Gmail account (not a separate email service), and often their functionality was too robust for more simple use cases. Setting up email automation sometimes took 1-2 weeks to set up (and required 2-3 other tools to accomplish).
Our new email automation tool is built right inside Copper and allows you to easily nurture your relationships. Here’s some of the things you can do:
Send an email automatically on a customer’s birthday or anniversary
Build a 3-step email series that nudges your customers to respond
Follow up with newly added prospects instantly and avoid missed opportunities.
What’s next? Our next step is to bring email automation to Pipelines. You’ll be able to send an email whenever an opportunity or project makes it to the next stage of your process, or send a reminder email if things start to stall.
Forms
We’ve made it fast and easy to bring in fresh customers and prospects with our new contact forms. You can now create a contact form that’s tailored to match your website’s look and feel. Once active on your website, it will automatically create leads or people records for you.
What’s next? First, we’ll be adding custom fields to forms so you can collect the information your business needs right from the beginning. Then, we’ll expand into Surveys. You’ll be able to send qualification questionnaires for new prospects, NPS or CSAT surveys for customers or ask for feedback from loyal customers.
Pipelines
Pipelines in Copper have traditionally been reserved for revenue-based processes. Now, we’ve expanded Pipelines to be able to track any customer process. We’ve also re-organized our Pipeline templates so you start with your use case: Sales, Account Renewal, Partnerships, Project, and Onboarding, among others.
What’s next? We still think we need to go further to help you not only “sell” the work, but also “do” the work. We’re going deeper into project and task management and re-imagining the card view.
New Pricing & Packaging
In May, we introduced our new Starter plan. At just $9 per user per month, this plan offers the key customer management features newer businesses need, like Google Workspace connectivity, 1,000 contacts and Zapier integrations.
Our hope is this makes Copper more accessible earlier and allows you to experience the benefits of a CRM quickly. We want you to grow with us!
We’re also going to introduce new packages this summer designed to match how our customer’s CRM needs change over time.
Wait a minute… where’s the artificial intelligence (AI)?!
We can’t not address AI in 2024. We’re very interested in how AI can help you improve your internal processes, but we also know that AI is still very artificial and not really intelligent.
We learned a lot from our Wyndy project last year. A lot of other companies will add a chat bot onto the right-hand side of their platform, call it a “co-pilot,” and announce they have AI. You end up having to provide a ton of context for it to be useful, which doesn’t save you time.
You need features that already understand what you’re trying to do and provide you with what you need, where you need it, and when you need it. We want it to be like magic ✨.
What if you could automatically generate a contextually-relevant email response with one click? What if Copper could surface your most important follow-ups on your Feed? What if Copper could make recommendations on how to improve your business processes?
We can’t wait to share what we’re working on later this year.
We’re looking for your feedback: let us know via Copper chat if you’re already a customer. If not, start your 14-day free trial here.
