Say Hello to Copper [Webinar Recap]

Last week, we announced that ProsperWorks is now Copper and introduced a beautiful new logo and brand.

From the start, we’ve believed in delivering a different kind of crm: one that’s user-centric, works in the tools you use, and ultimately makes building and growing lasting business relationships easier.

We changed the company name and updated our brand to better reflect this founding belief. Here’s a deeper dive into what happened with the rebrand, why we did it, and what’s ahead for Copper. Read on or watch the video below!

Welcome to the Relationship Era.

We’ve entered into the Relationship Era. This era is all about the shift businesses have made from seeing their customer interactions as one-time transactions to long-lasting relationships. Today, relationships are the foundation of a business and every relationship touchpoint matters.

Some of the best companies in the world such as Airbnb, Netflix, and Starbucks, have shifted their business model to make that happen. We recently conducted a study with folks from all industries and business sizes to better understand how people work and how relationships play into their jobs.

The biggest finding that came out of the study, which may not come as a surprise, is that every business needs to be a relationship business today. Everyone in your business is thinking about and focusing on how to better create and grow lasting relationships. C Suites are often thinking about how they can enable their team to get there.

The Relationship Era marks the end of how we’ve traditionally thought about “back office” roles. Everyone from Finance to Engineering to IT is a relationship maker. Relationship-building is no longer limited to Sales—everyone at your business is interfacing with your customers in one way or another. This holds true across all industries.

So ProsperWorks in now Copper… tell me more.

With any big change comes a handful of questions. Here are some of the most common ones we’ve heard from our customers, partners, and prospects.

Why rebrand now?

There are two big reasons. First, there’s a big shift in the crm space from data management to team productivity. There are new customer expectations for crm: it should be natively integrated, automated, deployed easily, work like the apps they use at home, and adaptable. We’re delivering a different kind of crm that does this, with a huge opportunity to stand out in this crowded space. Secondly and most importantly, our previous brand no longer reflects our point of view or represent how our customers, partners, and employees feel about our product and service.

Why change the name?

ProsperWorks has served us well, but after surveying and interviewing hundreds of people including employees, customers, and analysts, we found out that the name is hard to say and the logo is not visually memorable or unique enough to stand out in a crowd of old traditional crms. Which is exactly what we want to do!

Why did you pick “Copper?”

Copper is a conductor that generates energy between two objects and it’s been a form of currency for thousands of years. It’s real, human, and timeless: three things that represent our values and philosophy. Ultimately, Copper is about the connection between people and customers, and that’s what we’re giving our customers. It reflects our commitment to changing how companies and customers connect, so that we can build lasting business relationships together.

What does the new logo mean?

The two dots represent connection and relationships, while the serif typeface feels human and modern. The colors are bold, strong, and completely different from every crm out there.

So, what’s next for Copper?

We’re continuing to improve Copper and making it the most powerful productivity crm on the market. The key areas we’ll be focusing on are:

Relationship optimizations

Copper pulls in and stores all your important business data. It’s our responsibility to analyze that data and come up with great insights to help you optimize your relationships with contacts—without you having to think about it.

As part of this, we’ll be building:

  • A relationship score as an expression of the relationship health with your customers
  • Win reports that give you insight into what went into closing a particular deal
  • Surfacing collaborators who may not be directly related to an opportunity via a meeting or email, but are working on it through Google Docs, Sheets, etc
  • Relationship fields to capture critical customer data


Integrations is an area where we know we can never overinvest. We’ll be working on:

  • Custom integrations so that you can build the apps you use directly into the Copper UI. The best part? We recently released the first stage of this into beta. If you’re interested in joining this group, fill out this form!

  • Google Data Studio integration improvements so that creating custom reports will be even easier. Learn more about our existing integration here.

Relationship suggestions

The old world of crm is all about telling what you’ve done in the past. The crm of the future is not only a part of your productivity suite, but also proactively tells you what to do next. We’ll be bringing in these types of insights to Copper to give you suggestions on activities to keep your relationships moving forward.

Boosting crm productivity

As the #1 recommended for crm for Google, we’ll also be focusing on improving our Google integration. This includes features like:

  • Surfacing comments from Google Docs (more tips here), Sheets and Slides in the activity feed to make it easier to collaborate with your team, prospects, and customers
  • Embedding Google Sheets inside Copper for editing access
  • Starting a Hangout Chat room directly from Copper for instant communication
